SHOPPING On hill around Friendly Dolphin restaurant, "Shacks 5th Avenue": off Benito Juarez turning right towards town, a few blocks before pink welcome sign, across railroad tracks. Waterfront Malecon area, across from Flavio's restaurant.
GROCERY STORE Leys, major store, affiliated with safeway. Deli, bakery, liquor, everything. Located off main road to right while in town.
QUICKMART for Beer, liquor/Tequila, water, burritos. American owned; "Reggies" is located at first four way stop on Boulevard Freemont towards Playa LaJolla, turn right, immediately on left side of road. ***Tequila is actually cheaper at Sams Club & Costco, as is Margarita premix. Beer purchased in Mexico is all bottled/ plus deposit, the deposit is almost as much as the beer itself.
BUYING FISH in Old Port (on the Malecõn) fish market stalls, go to Fedrico's, second from left as you face water, he wears a old style golf hat or beret. His sales pitch is the genuine weight scales.
RESTAURANTS Our favorites are Dinner: Lattitudes (Sports Bar), Friendly Dolphin, LaCurva. New place: Los Juanes..located behind and across the street from the Pink Cadillac. Lunch: Flavio's, on the waterfront, follow the waiter into the parking lot. Blue Marlin; first left past Flavios, uphill, second door on left, great fish tacos, and they sell smoked fish, Lilly's. New for lunch and breakfast and lunchbox takeouts: Cafe' Hauss, next to Latitudes, towards Malecon, orange building next to dentist...German pastry chef and Mexican wife team, will be installing free WiFi.
TAKE OUT Lucas Chicken, BBQ'd half US$4.50, whole US$9.00, includes fresh corn & flour tortillas, cabbage, red onion, lime, and salsa. Half chicken feeds one male easily. Just past pink Rocky Pt. Welcome sign, on right. Under canopy seating also.
HAPPY HOUR Playa Bonita, outside on ocean view deck. Good for TV sporting events. Lilly's, pitchers of margaritas and shrimp cocktail mexican style watching the sunset.
SCUBA DIVING/SNORKELING/FISHING/PARASAILING/SUNSET CRUISES/ATV & JET SKI RENTAL/KAYAK RENTALS Most located on the harbor road to the waterfront, or one road back from waterfront restaurants as you leave town. Check Rocky Point Times.
